Customer Reviews

Great value and a great retro treat for your kids!I absolutely loved playing with these as a kid and was so happy to find a small set to introduce it to my own kids. My daughter absolutely loves it!The only issue is that the kit is very small. The paper is very thin and not large enough use, so plan to buy larger paper for the move complex designs. There s a larger kit here which is more expensive, but a better alternative if you want a bigger kit as a gift idea:https://www.amazon.com/Super-Spirograph-75-piece-Jumbo-Anniversary/dp/B00KJLUTQU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?crid=1NF2FWTTFIKM0&keywords=spirograph&qid=1568769009&sprefix=Spiro,aps,170&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=jessshodg-20&linkId=36e6a2f099451b165f4c332bc68fcca7 5like the full size set sold in storesExtremely tiny. Was expecting something much bigger..like the full size set sold in stores..Not what I expected at all, very small, and reminds me of travel size version.cute but too small for 13 to 20.00 when the big version can be purchased in the store for less 1Patience is Key.I had seen the reviews about the putty being a problem, but I ordered the kit anyway. The putty is, as you have read, hard as a rock. But.But, but, but. If you work with it, it seems to get less hard and more pliable. Also, you do NOT need a ton of it to secure the ring to the paper. If you can get a small piece worked to the point where it feels soft, don't be overly generous with your anchor dots. Just enough to get it connected to the paper will allow the ring to stay in place. An alternative to the putty that comes with this kit would be something like Loctite Fun-Tak; something resuable and designed to put up posters.Contrary to other reviews, I found the wheels and all plastic implements to be of good quality and not flimsy. Of course they're not the same type of plastic as the original sets- this is 2019, after all. Things change.I also like the portable size of the kit and the metal tin. The instruction booklet is very helpful and gives a lot of great pointers. I like the little pad of paper but it feels too confining to me, so I have been practicing on Bristol paper. That's the only other thing to be aware of- the putty will stick to paper that has tooth. So if it's rough at all, you may get residue that's hard to get off.All in all, this has been fun to play with and inspiring. 4Great travel size spirographGreat travel size spirograph! My 6 year old and 4 year old love it and they are quickly getting the hang of it! My only complaint is with the sticky putty, when it's used to hold down the outer ring, it seems to elevate that ring too much and make the inner ring slip underneath it and not be able to do the design smoothly. My kids get very frustrated with it. Using less doesn't seem to help much either. Usually I just help them out and hold down the outer ring with my hand for them. Otherwise, fun toy! 4Good Travel Activity, Spirograph Will Be Around Forever...This is a classic favorite that has transcended time. My parents, myself, and my older children have all had a Spirograph before. My last and youngest daughter is who I bought it for this time. She is 7 and a tad younger than the recommended age but it took just a little while for her to get the gist of it. Now, with some practice has created some very cool designs. My husband and I have drawn some art ourselves with this. It brings back fond memories as a child. I spent many hours just creating art over and over again and got so much enjoyment out of it.It comes in a small tin, perfect for travel and storage. There are several different Spirograph shapes which are, 7 wheels (various sizes in diameter), 1 ring, 1 rack, and Spiro-putty to help keep the wheel in place on the paper. You get two pens, red and blue, which make the shapes you create look more 3D. You get a pad with paper and a manual booklet, too. But, you can.use whatever paper you want to really. All goes neatly back into the metal tin to keep it organized. Good to have when travelling, too. There's still come good, clean fun around with Spirograph. I think this toy/game will be around forever. 5Too flimsy to be usedI was excited to discover that the beloved Spirograph of my childhood was still being produced and immediately ordered this set to share with my children. By the look of the package, I felt confident that the product was well made and would last for quite awhile. Unfortunately, upon opening the tin, I discovered that I had been deceived. the first thing I noticed was that the Spirograph set now came with sticky putty to glue down the outer circle. I initially thought that this was a great idea. It soon became clear exactly WHY this material was now included. The plastic pieces are now so thin that they are unusable. I was convinced that the pieces would break before I even got them out of the holders inside the tin. I put the putty on the ring and it was useless. I proceeded to just hold the ring as I had when I was a child and the plastic was so thin that the inner circle repeatedly slid under the outer ring no matter how careful I was. It was the same with all of the pieces. Clearly, the company skimped on the most important pieces of the Spirograph (the actual plastic shapes) to instead produce a flashy (but ultimately worthless) product. The tin is nice and the pens are nice with their Spirograph logo and all, but this was a seriously bad move. Everyone has pens and baggies that they could have stored the plastic pieces in and conversely, I would have paid a few dollars more for some sturdy shapes. Don't waste your money on this. Maybe another company is producing a sturdier set, but this one is not usable as it is. I'm very disappointed and mad. 1Nostalgia!!Saw these for much more money at a local store. Checked Amazon and low and behold a great price to be found. The same fun it's always been and a great gift for my kids who had no idea what Spirograph was. It's smaller than it looks but a great stocking stuffer or small gift for a childs birthday. 5I swear I pretended to buy this for my kid!I, um, bought this for my kid. Yup. Mostly. Ok, buy it for yourself but say its for your kid and hope they don't really care and think your a geezer for liking it, and then it's all yours! 5I discovered that the top of the blue pen was not attached and the pen was dried up and useless. I contacted customer service (hWhen I opened the sealed box, I discovered that the top of the blue pen was not attached and the pen was dried up and useless. I contacted customer service (hoping they would replace the pen) and the representative told me to contact Hasbro and then ended out chat session. I contacted Hasbro, but as yet have not heard back.Product delivers in that it's cool and just like the one I had as a kid, but shoddy customer service always dampens my enthusiasm. 3The perfect gift to fit in a shoe box.I ordered these Spirograph tins for Christmas gifts. These will be Special gifts to go into a charitable shoe box to be a sent to a child who might not otherwise get any gifts. It is difficult sometimes to find smaller gifts that are nearly universally enjoyable for children 8-10yrs or even older. Moreover these items must survive being sent who knows where in the world. I like that the instructions include pictures, and that it is self-contained with pens and paper included. The lovely tin is colorful and really fun just to look at. It is secure for mailing. Even adults can enjoy doodling around with a spirograph. The price is reasonable and it works for giving an unusual and fun item. It is perfect. I will toss other necessities and small toys into my charitable shoe box, but the spirograph is the star of the show. Somewhere in the world, there is a child who will smile....I just know it. 5
