Customer Reviews

Didn't work as expectedAs a preschool teacher, I have had one of these in my classroom and have seen one in almost every classroom I have visited. This year I purchased one for my daughter for Christmas. I don't know what is different, but this one just seems very cheaply made. The calculator barely worked right out of the box and I thought that maybe that was due to lack of light on the little solar panel. For a few months, it limped along, numbers would appear on the screen, but the beeps from the buttons sounded like the thing way dying. Now, it seems to have completely died, as I cannot get the calculator to work at all. I'm very disappointed. 1Don't believe all the 5 star ratings. This thing is cheap! In the process of returning it. It was broken when it came out of the box. The "OPEN" button was jammed. The coins were not bagged. They found their way inside the toy. They are rattling all around and we can't get them out. They are the likely reason the drawer gets jammed. It is very cheap an flimsy. It would probably break within a few days of my boys rough handling it. 1Most popular toyLove this cash registry. And it works well with the fake cash I got from Target. The only complain is that there are only tree compartments for the cash. And cash come with $1, $5, $10, $20, and $100. And there is no place to store the card. By the way, the card slot work with any cards you have. The registry itself is pretty sturdy. The reason I got this one is we had played with the same one in some children's museum. They are still working fine after days and days of play.My little one is only 4. And she has no problem figure out how to play with it. And she actually learned numbers from playing with it. She couldn't read or write number before getting it. As soon as she got it, she hit the buttons to put in the number and ask for a pencil so she can write down the numbers on the papers that came with it. Now she can read the write all the number.Totally love this cash registry. I am pretty sure, there are few more years of play with it still. Now whenever we have little visitors, this is one of the most popular toy to be played with. 5Broken after just 2 days of playReally hoping the manufacture can address what's happened. I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas and two days later it is broken. She is not hard on her toys and was opening and closing it like instructed. The open button is totally pushed in on one side and it will not open. This was a toy I expected her to have for a long time and basically I'm going to have to throw it away. Very sad about this! 1This toy is offensive with how incredibly terrible it isI m gonna be honest here...this toy is worthless.Got it for my 3 year old daughter for her birthday, gave it to her tonight. She loves playing with coins and is learning to count. Reviews led me to believe it would be a hit...she played with it for maybe 1.5 minutes before giving it back to me. Have you ever heard of a toddler giving something BACK??Fail #1: The drawer flies open like a freight train and all the coins shoot out of the front spaces. Every single time. NO. I already pick up enough fake food, hot wheels and Hatchimals every 5 minutes, I don t need to add coins to the mix.Fail #2: the credit card just sits in the slot on the front. That s the dumbest thing I ve ever seen. At least have it make a cool noise when you slide it or something worthwhile. It literally does nothing to help the toy be more fun.Fail #2: the sounds this thing DOES make are super annoying. Wimpy little wannabe beeps that sound nothing like a cash register. Like not even close.Fail #3: super flimsy/cheap material. Ughhhh it s so grossIf it s not obvious, I don t recommend this hunk of garbage. It might even be the worst toy I ve ever purchased in my entire life. I feel confident in that statement. 1This is another great toy by learning resourcesThis is another great toy by learning resources. I bought this for my daughter when she was 2. Now 3 she still plays with it daily. She loves punching the numbers in, but her favorite part is the open button that ejects the spring loaded drawer. I put the coins away until she is older, because I fear she will choke on them. She loves the paper money and the pretend credit card. I can see her and my son playing with this toy for at least 10 more years. It is very durable. She has dropped it many times and it hasn't skipped a beat. The plastic is high quality. I would definitely buy this product again.Note there is another one that looks exactly the same but it has a scale by the same company. 5Drawer opens with too much force! The drawer opens with so much force, and the coins fly out! It s not exactly a Ca Ching sound, but a clanging banging sound. Plus the drawer doesn t open far enough for little hands to remove the bills easily. When first powered on, nothing worked, so checked the battery, took out, put back in and tightened the battery cover. Then it seemed to work ok. Where do we find these batteries? Not easily found. Couldn t give 5 stars because of the way the drawer opens with force where the coins fly out, and the Ca Ching sound isn t really there...more like a banging clanging sound. 4I know our classroom is going to enjoy using the pretend cash registerI know our classroom is going to enjoy using the pretend cash register. I love it! But I do have a couple of suggestions about improving the product experience.First: The play money is packaged in a plastic bag and taped down inside of the drawer for stability. I spent 10 to 15 minutes trying to remove the adhesive tape residue because it would stick to the play money.Second: When I pressed the "Open" button to open the drawer some of the play coins would fly out onto the floor because the coins are too light . Maybe you can make the coins a little heavier? For now, I am using real coins as a simple solution.Overall, I love your product and I would recommend others to get it for their kids. 4Solar cells are weakThis cash register only works in a very sunny location. Unless you are putting it with the solar cells facing a window with no shades on them, it won t work at all. It s pretty much useless in our playroom. We ended up rearranging the entire room so the cash register could be by the window. But even with that, unless we open the blinds and let our neighbors see the mess in the playroom while two small children play in there, the register simply doesn t work.Get a battery-operated model. You ll be much happier. 1A good, simple cash register for play-based learningPROS:* Easy-to-read, large buttons & LCD display* Extremely durable; ours has taken several spills without so much as a scratch* Satisfying bell "ding" when drawer opens* Long-lasting battery* Right number of calculator functions not too many as to be overwhelming for younger childrenCONS:* Paper pad doesn't stay put* Credit card doesn't do anything* Fake currency could be on thicker paper, and accurately sized (my children wanted to use their real allowance money but it did not fit)* Primary colors are overwhelming... wish this was also available in neutral (or metallic?) colors for those of us teaching easily overstimulated children (I did look at wooden registers before purchasing this one, but decided against them because they were, if anything, more childish, with no calculators)PRO TIP:* Tape on a post-it note pad when the note pad runs out, and attach a pen/pencil (if using a pen on a cord, like those at banks, make sure the cord does not pose a strangulation hazard) 4
